The chemistry behind the technology
SiShield’s patented and EPA-registered solutions provide safe, effective, durable protection against the growth of single-cell microorganisms on substrates and surfaces. Our unique water-based antimicrobial protection system is based on a breakthrough quaternary ammonium silane (“Si-QAC”) compound invented by our world-renowned founder, engineer Jacques Elfersy. This compound modifies almost any surface on a molecular level without changing its look or feel, creating an invisible protective coating that inhibits microbial growth.
Our environmentally-friendly compound physically disrupts and effectively destroys the target organism’s cell membrane on contact. Unlike other antimicrobials that can be highly toxic, our action is a mechanical kill, rather than a chemical kill.
SiShield continues to iterate on our core molecule, developing an extensive range of concentrations, formulations, and uses. Partner with us to seamlessly and easily incorporate our technology into your product.

Silane Base
The central section of the long chain molecule is a silane base, which enables the antimicrobial to anchor securely onto the substrate. A covalent bond is formed, providing long-lasting antimicrobial protection against a wide range of single cell microorganisms.
Long molecular carbon chain
The long chain molecule is the blade that initially comes into contact with the offending microbes. This acts like a sword that punctures the cell membranes of all microbes coming in contact with it.
Positively Charged Nitrogen
Positively charged nitrogen is a bolt of electricity that finishes off any speared microbe that survives the sword. The mechanical decontamination negates the need for harsh chemicals.
